Conversation Archive Backup is operated for personal use by the archive owner.
Google Drive access
The application uses Google's drive.file permission. It creates, reads, updates, and deletes only the specific Google Drive files used with the application, including its encrypted backup repository. It reads file metadata needed to locate and maintain those backups. It does not request access to Gmail, Google Contacts, or Google Calendar.
Use and storage
The application uses Drive access solely to store encrypted backups, check their integrity, restore them, and manage backup retention. Restic encrypts backup contents on the owner's computer or server before sending them to Google Drive. The backup encryption password is stored separately from the repository. OAuth credentials are stored privately on the owner's devices so the application can perform authorized backup operations.
Sharing
The application does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or send it to AI services. Encrypted backups and the metadata needed to store them are sent to Google Drive under the owner's Google account. The application does not intentionally share the backup repository with other Drive users.
Retention and control
Backups remain until the owner removes them or enables a retention policy. Revoking the application's access in Google Account settings stops future authorized Drive operations; it does not delete backups already stored in Drive. The owner can delete the backup folder from Drive and remove locally stored credentials. Local recovery copies are managed separately.
Questions
The application's Google consent screen identifies the owner and provides the support email address for questions or deletion requests.
